The factory
Kate Thornley-Hall carpets are hand made in Katmandu Nepal using wool from high altitude Tibetan sheep combined with Indian and Chinese silks. Our factory employs local weavers whose families have been making carpets for generations.
Traditional methods are used in the dying, copper pots heat the dyes from Switzerland and India. We have an enormous colour palette to chose from and often make up new custom colours for our designs. We use a weaving method called “Tibetan knot” and the quality is 100 knots per square inch.
Our combination of wool and silk mixed into strands and woven produces durable and beautiful works of art.
